Day 11
1992 - 1995
This would be the band that I left the Navy for. We were young, hungry (all we ever ate was rice!) and ambitions... but also completely ignorant of how the music business worked. Jon, Eric and I were all in the NAV when we met, and were all deserters at the same time. Marty was the only vocalist that we recorded with, though I should mention Ilona Lorey and especially John Demps as singers that also sang for us. We went under Coup de tat, and Honeyhole at the very end.
The stories of dodging shore patrol, carying aliases, slathering tiger balm on our testicles before gigs and eating cheap rice are fodder for endless hours of laughter.
Jonathan Byrd went on to actually live the life of a musician. He now tours North America, and sometimes Europe, I think, while recording records and selling them. His whole life is his business and he is good at it. I have had the honor of sitting in with him when he rolls through what ever town I am living in at the time.
Eric Olsen moved back to Atlanta where he is a computer technician of some sort. After a falling out, he and I lost touch.
I believe that Cory still lives at home...
Marty Zane (was that even his real name???) went back to Texas, destination, unknown.
Jonathan Byrd - guitar
Eric Olsen - drums
Cory Dozier - guitar
Marty Zane - vocals
Jeff Dowd - bass
